Sauna Bliss

Saunas have been around for hundreds of years in Europe. In America, some of the earliest inhabitants developed the tradition of sweat lodges for both health and spiritual benefits.

The interesting thing about infrared saunas is that they differ from “regular saunas” because their light directly penetrates your skin but does not warm the air around you. The temperature in your body goes up quickly, yet the light has no effect on your surrounding environment.

We are happy to report that our sauna is big enough to accommodate two (or even three) people at one time.  So if you come for a couples treatment, or wish to bring a friend or two with you, you can all be in the sauna at the same time if you wish.

Did you know that some doctors refer to the skin as our "third kidney" because it is such an effective tool of elimination and detoxification?  Toxins become stored in fat cells,  but the deep, penetrating infrared light and heat can remove potential carcinogenic heavy metals such as mercury, lead, alcohol, nicotine, sodium and sulfuric acid, to name a few.

Immune System Enhancement:
A typical sauna session will cause a brief 1 to 3 degree increase in body temperature.  Fever is the body's defense against bacteria, microbes and consequent infection.  This side effect is said to trigger the production of white blood cells that help fight off certain diseases.

Weight Control:
You can burn up to 600 calories per sauna session!  If  heavy metals are reduced, this will aid in correcting metabolic imbalances that were causing poor digestion and weight gain. Toxins stored in fat are decreased, which also makes weight loss easier. The sauna will increase your pulse and metabolic rate.  Cellulite removal or reduction is also possible because fat becomes water soluble at 110 F, releasing subcutaneous fat with every session.  The sauna can become an invaluable tool for weight loss when paired with a sensible diet and exercise program!

Pain Relief:
The infrared sauna can reduce pain associated with arthritis, muscle spasms, shoulder pain, neck and back pain, sprains, and reduce scar tissue adhesion.  It’s great by itself, or in combination with massage or energy healing.

Skin Cleansing and Rejuvenation:
The sauna can open up pores, allowing for the removal of dirt, oil, and makeup.  In addition, there are improvements in skin problems such as acne, rashes, burns, eczema and psoriasis.  Scars, even keloids, may be gradually softened. Consider an infrared session after your facial.

Unlike traditional saunas which operate at extremely harsh temperatures, infrared is a gentle, soothing and therapeutic heat that promotes relaxation and improved sleep. Infrared sauna benefits include therapy that helps you relax while receiving an invigorating deep tissue sweat, leaving you fully refreshed after each session.

AutoImmune Issues
Studies have shown that infrared helps for many auto-immune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, Sjogren Syndrome, Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, lupis, etc.

Lower Blood Pressure
Infrared saunas induce a deep sweat to make the heart pump faster, which in turn increases blood flow, lowers blood pressure and helps circulation. Scientific evidence shows that using an infrared sauna a couple times a week lowers blood pressure.

Improved Circulation
Heating the muscles with infrared rays produces an increase in blood flow similar to that seen during exercise. Regular infrared sauna use can significantly stimulate blood flow up to twice the normal rate.

Wound Healing
Scientific research has concluded that infrared therapy greatly enhances the skin’s healing process by promoting faster cell regeneration and human tissue growth. Human cell growth increases to repair wounds and prevent infection.

Cell Health
Infrared therapy stimulates the circulatory system and more fully oxygenate the body’s cells. Better blood circulation means more toxins flow from the cellular level to the skin’s surface to improve cell health, aid in muscle recovery and strengthen the immune system.

Infrared has been shown to provide improvement for people with mild depression.
